Poompuhar Beach(3.8):–

                      Poompuhar Beach may be a natural and ancient beach located in Poompuhar, Tamil Nadu, India, along the Bay of Bengal. Poompuhar grew into a good city during the reign of Karikal Cholan. Even after Sangam Chola's period Poompuhar occupied a major place during the regime of Kalabras. After the Kalabras within the 6th century AD, Poompuhar came under the Pallava regime and through that point the Pallavaneeswaran temple was built by them. With the increase of later Cholas in 850 AD town regained its past glory. it's mentioned as "Rajathiraja Valanaattu Nangoor Naattu Kaveripoompattinam" within the Sayavanam temple inscription of Vikrama Cholan within the same temple, calls the town "Puhar Nagaram".
