The massive fort

The massive fort walls of Senchi connect the three inaccessible mountains of Krishnagiri, Shakilitrak and Rajagiri. The three hills have been given the shape of a triangle, while a 20 m thick main wall connects them. The tops of these three hills form an impregnable fort, while the inner fort has many ramparts and gates. The Rajgiri fort situated at an altitude of 800 feet is very inaccessible. The 20 m deep gorge is now connected by a bridge.

Red Fort

Senchi was once the capital and its province extended from Nellore in the north to Kollidam in the south. Sarab Singh, son of Rajdesinh, who fought against the Nawab of Arcot, was later defeated and killed in the battle. Though Senchi became part of the Nawab's territory in 1714 CE, the heroic deeds of the young and courageous Desing became a legend and his heroic deeds were sung in the form of popular songs. Senchi is very well known by all and came under French rule in 1750AD and later, it was brought under British rule in 1761.

Senji today, with its ruined forts, temples and bastions, teaches us a different lesson from its former glory. But the remains of that precious past tell us of many occupations, wars and prejudices. We welcome you to Senchi Fort, an example of bravery and strength. The forts are located on both sides of the Tiruvannamalai Road. It remains open from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. Any assistance can be sought at the Archaeological Survey of India office or at the ticket counter

Kalyan Mahal

The Kalyan Mahal built in the Hindu-Islamic style is the most attractive part of the fort. It is surrounded by a square court and the chambers of the ladies of the governor's house. In the middle of this courtyard, there is a 27 meter high square tower, which is made of stone. The tower has a pyramidal roof. The rooms in this tower are similar to those in the buildings of various Vijayanagara Nayaks.

Venugopala Swamy Temple

Located to the west of the inner entrance of the lower fort, the temple has remarkable artistic sculptures. Another interesting feature of this temple is the luminous plaque found in front of the temple.

Kulam

On the way to the Hanuman temple, outside the lower line, the temple is filled with ponds and many other interesting structures. There are two main tanks in this fort, Sakraikulam and Chettikulam. Chettikulam was built by Raja Shetty in the late 18th century, during the occupation of the monastery.

Famous Ranganatha Temple

Built-in the typical Hindu-Islamic style, the audience verandah has a gabled roof with a series of small pointed arches. This building is a remarkable structure. It is a famous Ranganatha temple built in the Vijayanagara style. To the south of the watchtower is a large iron cannon, about 4 meters long and 2 meters in circumference. In style and size, this cannon is very similar to the Bijapur Malik-I Maidan.

Thiruvamathur

A 1500 year old Chola temple along with Sri Abhimeswara temple is located here. The temple appears to have been transferred several times between Rajaraja Chola I (985–1012 BCE) and Srirangadeva Maharaja. Amman's name is Muthambikai.

24 Tirthankaras

It is 2 km north of the city of Senchi. is very far. On the hill on the west side of the road are two Jain caves and a large rock on which 24 Tirthankaras are carved in 9th century style. This is the only place where the 24 Tirthankaras are displayed in a large arrangement. Chandranandi fasted for 57 days at this shrine and died near this place (5th, 6th century AD). Another saint Ilayapatra fasted for 30 days in the 6th century AD.

Melmalayanur Angala Parameshwari

Angala Parameshwari Temple, the special deity of the Sembavars, is 32 km from Senchi. It is situated far away. A festival is organized here in the months of February-March. A special feature of this festival is the graveyard. The participants in the festival cook a variety of food and a large amount of grain. Cooked food is thrown on the burning ground. Through this people offer grains to the deities brought there. Lakhs of devotees throng here on every Amavasai (new moon day). There is a snake pit shrine in the inner sanctum.

Coovagam Koothandavar Temple in Coovagam is a world-famous temple. It is the only temple in India where Aravanis and their family members worship. Based on the Mahabharata, this 15-day festival is very popular.
